The Litter Robot III used to have an Internal shield. Its main function is to provide a barrier between the working surface of the Globe and the space used by your cat. The position of the Internal Shield during cycling is controlled by the Key located at the back of the Globe. In March 2018, the Litter-Robot III was slightly modified.
Remove the pinch wire and metal contacts from their plastic housing, tape the metal contacts together with electrical tape is a better fix than cleaning them. They are located in a place that collects wet litter which causes ongoing problems. Just setup the LR4 - added litter and plugged in. During its first cycle it got stuck and won’t return to the home position. The lights are flashing 3 red and 2 yellow. I emptied out all of the litter thinking I added too much and tried to reset it but it’s doing the same thing still.

Got my Litter robot yesterday and have a similar issue. Brand new out of the box it flashes just like yours, but mine is solid blue then solid white. I have a ticket open, but it is going nowhere. Bizarrely enough even when it is flashing like it is, I can push the wifi connect button and add the robot in the whisker app on my phone.

I took it apart and accidently swapped some wires going into the control panel. That or you have a broken DFI sensor. Costs about $80 and is easy to replace. After three cycles with a stuck on DFI sensor the LR3 will stop auto cycling. Edit: breaking one of the two wires for the DFI sensor will also cause the same result.
